Hi, I’m Emily.

I’m a boy mom and a Certified Pediatric Sleep & Development Specialist. I have a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Prevention Research from Stanford School of Medicine. Most importantly, I nerd out over all things infant mental health and get how hard it can be to support your child’s sleep.

I care deeply about the wellbeing of caregivers and their babies and recognize how challenging it can be to navigate all the newness that comes with being a parent. I believe as caregivers we have the greatest privilege to be able to support our child’s lifelong mental health from day one, and a lot of that is how we show up at night. Sleep can be very difficult and confusing as a new parent - there is SO much information out there, and a lot of it is a one-size-fits-all approach. The reality is, every baby is different and every family is different, which makes personalized support crucial for our success as parents.

If you are weary of strict schedules, can’t handle the whole cry-it-out thing, and want to support your child with a responsive approach, I’d love to work with you! I am here to help you navigate this time by providing you with concrete tools so you and baby get better sleep.

infant sleep support

rooted in biology + neuroscience

Modern Nurture’s Core Principles:

  1. Individualized Care
Every child is unique, and their sleep needs should be approached with an understanding of their individual temperament, challenges, and rhythms. I prioritize personalized support to meet the specific needs of each child and family.

  2. Developmentally Informed Sleep Guidance
Sleep is a dynamic, developmental process. We will take into account your child’s age, developmental stage, milestones, and evolving sleep patterns to provide strategies that are nurturing and in line with their natural progression.

  3. Attunement to Cues
I will encourage you to focus on understanding and responding to your child’s cues and emotional state - when we respond to cues, our children feel secure.

  4. Consistent Compassion
I support families in maintaining sleep rhythms over routine, embracing flexibility and compassion to adjust to the child’s needs. This allows for an environment for optimal sleep development.
